Testing laboratory for water heaters

Equipped with 8 test stations, it enables the performance of precise test cycles up to 25 bar, ensuring the mechanical reliability of the products and full data traceability.

The solution provided by LF Technologies

A leading player in thermal comfort sought to modernize its pressure resistance testing processes. The goal was to replace manual testing with an automated solution capable of simulating intensive usage conditions in a repeatable and safe manner.

The technical solution

To meet this need for high precision, the laboratory was designed around eight test stations, organized into dual-test zones for maximum flexibility. Each test unit allows for testing of cylinders individually or in pairs within secure enclosures.

  • Hydraulic performance: The system generates a maximum static pressure of 25 bar, with a measurement accuracy of 0.1 bar.
  • Operator safety: Each zone is protected by a polycarbonate enclosure and equipped with a door featuring a safety latch, ensuring that pressure is released immediately if the door is opened during a cycle.
  • Automated control: The system is controlled by dedicated software that allows users to intuitively configure complex test cycles (rising, falling, and holding phases).
  • Full traceability: All measurement data is automatically saved in text format for later analysis and proper archiving.

Industrial profits

This facility not only allows us to verify the mechanical performance of our products under severe conditions, but also to optimize testing campaigns through automation.

Detailed technical specifications

  • Pressure capacity: Generates a maximum static pressure of 25 bar with an accuracy of 0.1 bar.
  • Test dynamics: Configurable pressure rise and fall rates up to 1 bar per second.
  • Robust architecture: A 13-meter-long system comprising 8 independent test stations mounted on aluminum frames.
  • Active safety: Test chambers with high-strength polycarbonate walls and automatic door locking during pressurization cycles.

Control Systems and Software

The laboratory is controlled by proprietary software developed by LF Technologies, offering an intuitive interface for complete control over testing:

  • Block programming: Create complex cycles (stages, ramps, hydraulic shocks) with just a few clicks.
  • Real-time monitoring: Display of pressure curves and cycle counters on a PC.
  • Data management: Automatic export of test reports in text format (Excel-compatible) for seamless traceability.
  • Status indicators: Light bars (glass tubes) at each workstation to instantly display the progress of tests in the workshop.

The technological edge

To optimize productivity, the system can be equipped with a pressure-reducing pump. This option speeds up the deflation of the bladders by drawing in water, thereby significantly reducing the total duration of hydraulic fatigue cycles.

Domestic hot water tank

Storage tank

Storage tanks, more commonly known as hot water tanks, are hot water reservoirs enclosed in thermal insulation, designed to supply hot water to plumbing or heating systems.

OUR KEY TEST BENCH FOR THESE TESTS Mobile pressure generator WPC

The WPC is a pressure generator for performing proof pressure and alternating pressure tests on large capacity water heater pressure vessels EN 12897.

These tests can be performed under water circulation, with temperature control.

The products tested with this bench :

  • pressure vessels (e.g. water heaters)
  • pumps and pump bodies
  • pipes
  • valves and valve bodies
