Fatigue test benches

Fatigue test benches are used to verify the ability of a product, component or assembly to maintain its performance under repeated loading. They are used both in research and development and for qualification, validation or production control.

LF Technologies designs equipment tailored to each application, from testing a single specimen to multi-channel configurations. Motions, loads, instrumentation and fixtures are defined according to the product being tested, its operating environment and the objectives of the test campaign.

Precise control of every test cycle

Each test bench is configured to apply a defined test program to the product: number of cycles, frequency, amplitude, speed, force, torque or displacement. Depending on the application, loading can be applied in tension, compression, bending, torsion, oscillation or reciprocating motion.

Automated control ensures stable sequences and repeatable test conditions. It also makes it possible to monitor changes in the product until a threshold is reached, an anomaly is detected or the defined program is completed.

Main functions

  • Programming of movements, loads and cyclic sequences
  • Adjustment of frequency, amplitude, speed and number of cycles
  • Measurement of forces, torques, displacements or strains
  • Real-time display of key test data
  • Detection of failures, performance losses and threshold exceedances
  • Automatic stop according to criteria defined by the operator
  • Data logging and traceability of test campaigns

Operation tailored to the product being tested

The product is installed in a dedicated fixture designed to hold it securely and reproduce mounting conditions representative of its actual use. The actuation system then performs the programmed movements or applies the programmed loads.

During the test, sensors measure the parameters required to analyze the product’s behavior. The software centralizes control, data acquisition and monitoring of end-of-test criteria. In the event of a failure, anomaly or threshold exceedance, the machine can automatically stop the sequence.

Complete support, from specifications to commissioning

LF Technologies manages the entire development of the test bench to ensure consistency between your requirements, the test protocol and the machine’s performance.

  • Requirements analysis: study of the product, its mounting conditions, the loads to be reproduced and the validation criteria.
  • Solution definition: selection of the mechanical architecture, actuation system, sensors, fixtures and control functions.
  • Design and manufacturing: mechanical, electrical and software development of the test bench, including the integration of measurement and safety systems.
  • Fine-tuning and validation: verification of sequences, measurements and machine performance before delivery.
  • Installation and user onboarding: commissioning of the test bench and support for users in operating it.
  • Support and upgrades: technical assistance and adaptation of fixtures, programs or test capacities to meet your future needs.

Test benches designed for your tests in accordance with applicable standards

The products being tested may be subject to requirements defined by a standard, a customer specification or an internal qualification procedure. LF Technologies designs and manufactures the test bench required to carry out these protocols.

Based on the requirements provided by the customer, our teams define the movements, loads, number of cycles, measurement conditions and stop criteria to be integrated into the machine. The test bench can therefore reproduce the loads specified by the applicable reference document and collect the data required to evaluate the product.
