Bicycle frame test bench

Ref : Bike-Test-Frame

The bicycle frame test bench enables the reproduction of pedalling forces in order to assess the fatigue strength of frames under conditions that closely resemble real-world use. It offers a solution that is technical, visual and safe for endurance testing.

  • Realistic simulation of pedalling effort
  • Real-time display of forces and cycle count
  • Simple and intuitive to use, with pre-set programmes
  • Enhanced safety thanks to the protective cover

Features

The bicycle frame test bench incorporates several features designed to carry out fatigue testing on frames by simulating pedalling forces under conditions similar to those in a laboratory test. It allows cycles to be programmed according to force, frequency and number of cycles, whilst providing a real-time display of forces, displacements and the progress of the test. The system has been designed to provide easy-to-read results, including in a demonstration or educational context.

  • Fatigue testing on bicycle frames with simulation of pedalling forces
  • Test scheduling based on force, frequency and number of cycles
  • Real-time display of force, displacement and cycle count
  • Display of waveforms and machine status to monitor the test
  • Pre-configured test programmes for a quick start
  • Automatic adjustment of the setpoint based on the force achieved in the previous cycle
  • Animated display option featuring a cyclist and/or an LED speedometer

Technology

From a technological standpoint, the system uses electric actuators to apply forces to the dummy crankset, a control PC to configure and monitor the tests, and a set of mechanical components designed to faithfully reproduce the frame’s assembly conditions. Safety and ergonomics are also ensured by a design suited to use in both demonstration and technical environments.

  • Two electric actuators to apply pedalling forces
  • On-the-move control with force control at every cycle
  • Control PC for programming and monitoring
  • Force measurement for monitoring applied forces
  • Dummy fork, dummy crankset, dummy connecting rod and rear wheel to replicate the test setup
  • Ball-and-socket joint for rear support
  • Protective cover to prevent contact with moving parts
  • Software visualisation interface with graphs, counters and machine statuses

Applications

This test bench is designed for bicycle manufacturers and distributors who wish to demonstrate a frame’s strength under conditions similar to those of a laboratory test, whilst providing an educational and safe in-store experience. It can also be used by R&D teams for endurance testing.

Advantages of the Bike-Test-Frame

Easy to get started for all users

The frame assembly and software controls have been designed to ensure a smooth, user-friendly and quick experience, without any technical complexity.

Test conditions that closely resemble real-world use

The silent electric actuators accurately replicate the forces exerted during pedalling, enabling a precise analysis of the frame’s behaviour.

Clear and immediate monitoring of tests

The effort levels and number of cycles are displayed in real time, with options to view them as graphs or animations to aid in interpreting the results.

Safe to use in all circumstances

The guard protects users by preventing contact with moving parts and sensitive components of the machine.

Pre-configured programmes for greater efficiency

Pre-configured test scenarios (force, frequency, number of cycles) enable tests to be started quickly whilst ensuring their repeatability.
