Main functions

The torsion test rig can test samples up to 1,000 Nm and 400°/min, according to programmable cycles, until they break. It automatically measures torsional stiffness and deformation energy. The specimen is attached to a sliding headstock, enabling testing of specimens of varying lengths up to 500 mm. Torque measurement is provided by a strain-gauge torquemeter, and deformation angle is measured by a high-resolution encoder.

Operating mode

The test sample is clamped on 2 chucks with concentric jaws. The 1st chuck, which is fixed in rotation, is mounted on a sliding headstock that can be adjusted in translation. The 2nd chuck is driven in rotation by a brushless geared motor equipped with a backlash compensation system. The user sets a rotation speed, a minimum angle and a maximum speed. and max. or min. torque and max. as well as a number of cycles. The software automatically measures the rotational stiffness coefficient and the energy absorbed by the sample at each cycle.

The temperature is regulated and controlled during the test according to pre-set parameters (ramps and steps). Thermal chambers are ideal for carrying out long-term tests or for preparing a sample prior to testing. The independent chamber is heated using a gas or liquid bath, with a temperature gauge positioned as close as possible to the sample under test.
