Car aerator

An aerator is a mechanical part that is within the passenger compartment. The main function of an aerator is to ensure that air flows more or less through the compartment.

Objective

Our client wants to measure the operating force of its aerator (orientation and thumb wheel). The company wants to control strength, speed and position of the tested product with combined transfer and rotation movements.

 


Problematic issues

 

This test bench must measure strength very precisely and be adjustable with different aerators shapes. For practical reasons, the bench must be transportable in a transport case.


 

Solution and result

 

Our engineers designed a measure bench for aerators equipped with a specific software and able to control actuators and acquisition value for angular, linear, torque and associated forces.


Linked to a computer, the software lets the operator see data related to the tests, shows different curves and can run a pre-memorised program.


The test bench is light, compact and easily transportable. It is composed of two actuators, an aerator support and a transport case.

The first actuator is roto linear, it assures cursors linear and angular movement and measure axial force and rotation torque. It is conceived to avoid any destructive deformation in case of abnormal stress. This actuator guarantees great sharpness in the measure thanks to its double dial assembly.

The second one is a rotary actuator with controlled pressure. It applies a programmable load on the tested product that goes from 0 to 20 N.

This test bench is also equipped with an aerator support. It helps in having repeatable results during the tests by ensuring the product is well positioned and that the connecting surface is the same regardless of the shape. This way, testing is easier and the results are more reliable.

Finally, this measure test bench is fully transportable thanks to its transport case that can carry everything necessary to the smooth running of the tests.
