A rotating coupling is a mechanical part which conveys the rotational power.
Analyzing the elastic distortion of the coupling when applying a torque.
The system is conceived in such a way that makes negligible the other components apart from the torque (radial load, axial load).
Solution and result
LF Technologies offers a test equipment with a vertical axis which enables applying a torque that is representative of the real use conditions of the product, without any parasitic axial and transverse load. Among other functions, it can draw torque/angle of torsion curves and validate that these ones comply with a defined tolerance window.
An automatic analysis system of the curves enables measuring the torsional stiffness, seeking the slipping torque and measuring the energy dispelled by the tested product. The tests are conducted under automatic cycling in order to evaluate the evolution all of these measurements during the product life cycle.
The machine is equipped with an automatic compensation system of its own stiffness. The tests can be conducted in a thermal enclosure in an oil bath. The torsion bench is controlled by a customized software which can, among other things, edit and/or issue test settings and visualize all the test results.
This bench is used by R&D labs to qualify new products, and in production to check the conformity of the manufactured parts.
This torsion bench helps to reduce the time for product development, and to continuously make sure of the performances of the manufactured parts on the production line, by conducting reproducible tests with objective results that do not depend on the user.
