Objective

Study and realization of a bench of endurance of toilet seat according to the standard NF D 12-207 (Sanitary appliances - toilet seats - Endurance test)

Problematic issues

To produce a compact test device that can withstand "N" cycles of endurance and has the lowest possible noise level.

Solution and result

The part to be checked (bezel + cover) is fixed on a plate constituting a tool. This simulates the attachment to a toilet bowl.

The seat is placed in front of the toilet on 4 support tools equipped with shock detectors allowing the evolution of the shock to be evaluated.

The axial play of the seat is measured by a pneumatic cylinder and a displacement sensor. The pressure of the cylinders can be adjusted by the pressure regulator.

A lifting arm raises the flap to a certain angle and retracts before it falls. A support arm forces the flap down at a given force.

An optical sensor system detects the moment of closure of the flap or cover, and thus measures the fall time.

The endurance bench is controlled by an internal PLC allowing basic operation without a PC.

The test area is covered by a transparent cover to secure the station during temperature tests (up to 50°C) and to limit the noise level.

The mechanical endurance bench for WC flaps has many advantages:

  • almost unlimited number of test cycles
  • programmable heating of the chamber from the ambient temperature
  • noise reduction by sound insulation.
